A Message
from the President . . . |
Welcome
to the website of the FDLE Agents Association. The FDLE Agents
Association, a Chapter of the Florida Police Benevolent
Association is the lawful collective bargaining agent and legal
representative of the Special Agents of the Florida Department of
Law Enforcement.
The men and women who make up the ranks of the FDLE Special Agent are
among the most highly experienced criminal investigators in the
country. Florida's unique population diversity, geographic location
and constant weather provide a base for law enforcement missions which
have afforded these Special Agents the opportunity to enhance
their investigative expertise well above the average of a
comparable State Police Agent in the US.
The FDLE Agents Association lobby’s extensively on behalf of the
FDLE Special Agents on administrative and legal issues relative to
the betterment of the career of the FDLE Special Agent. We
maintain a PAC fund and enjoy a professional working relationship
with many of Florida’s lawmakers. We negotiate contracts on
working conditions and intervene in administrative actions
directed towards members. We provide legal representation in the
administrative, civil and criminal arena to our members in
relation to their function as a State Police Special Agent. In
addition to the several Hundred Sworn Special Agents of FDLE that
we represent, we are honored to include in our membership,
Investigators from FDLE’s Public Assistance Fraud Units as well as
FDLE Criminal Intelligence Analyst.
We hope your visit to this website is both inspiring and
informative. Please feel free to utilize the numerous links to
our liberal public records databases and don’t hesitate to contact
a representative of this organization if we can ever be of
assistance to you.

The History of the FDLE
. . .
The Dept. of Law
Enforcement was created in 1967 as the Bureau of Law Enforcement,
combining the Florida Sheriff's Bureau, the State Board of
Health's Narcotics Bureau, and the criminal law investigative
duties of the Attorney General. The Bureau became the Dept. of Law
Enforcement in 1969; was reorganized in 1974 as the Florida Dept.
of Criminal Law Enforcement. It was renamed the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in 1978.
The Department conducts investigations into the execution and
enforcement of laws relating but not limited to organized crime,
racketeering, vice, narcotics, fraud, rioting or inciting to riot,
and insurrection. It investigates the misconduct of public
officials and employees and members of public authorities that are
subject to removal or suspension by the Governor. It is a primary
participant in the Joint Terrorism Task Force in conjunction with
local and Federal agencies. It is responsible for the Security and
protection of the Florida Governor and the first family. In
addition to it’s State Police functions, it maintains a Criminal
Justice Information System that records and transmits valuable
information on criminals for use by government agencies. It has a
Forensic Laboratory division that is ranked among the highest in
the country. It provides investigative support for local and state
law enforcement agencies, certifies training schools, and sets
standards for criminal justice enforcement officers. |
